Alan C. Dalkin, MD, attended the University of Michigan for college and medical school before pursuing a residency in internal medicine at The University of Chicago. He completed a fellowship in endocrinology and metabolism at the University of Michigan before joining the faculty at the University of Virginia where he is professor of medicine. He is currently the vice chair of the Department of Medicine. He is an expert in the area of calcium metabolism and bone disease and has published and spoken in this field for many years. He is listed in America’s Top Doctors as well as Best Doctors in America. He has served in a number of leadership positions in education: president of the Association of Program Directors in Endocrinology and Metabolism, councilor of the Association of Specialty Professors, and chair of The Endocrine Society’s Self-Assessment Committee.
