Managing diabetes is challenging enough on a day-to-day basis. In an emergency, having access to needed medical care and supplies can be a matter of life and death. We and our partners in the award-winning Diabetes Disaster Response Coalition (formerly the Diabetes Emergency Relief Coalition) are committed to delivering life-saving medical care and supplies to areas affected by disasters.

In response to a succession of Atlantic hurricanes that devastated the mainland United States and territories, we teamed up to form the coalition in 2017.
Together, we delivered nearly 4,000 pounds of diabetes supplies to individuals left without access to water and electricity in the wake of the 2017 hurricanes. The group coordinated with nearby hospitals, pharmacies, shelters and corporations to help get patients the care they needed.
The American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) honored the Coalition with the prestigious Power of A Summit Award for its exemplary commitment to solving problems and creating a stronger world.
