Joy Y. Wu, MD, PhD

Joy Wu is Associate Professor and Vice Chair of Basic Science in the Department of Medicine at Stanford University School of Medicine, where she directs a basic and translational research program that focuses on skeletal development, the bone marrow hematopoietic niche, and stem cell therapies for bone. Dr. Wu is the Research Chief of the Metabolic Bone Disease Clinic, and Co-Director of the Stanford Internal Medicine Translational Investigator Program. She earned her M.D. and Ph.D. degrees at Duke University, followed by Internal Medicine residency at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and Endocrinology clinical fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital. She was a recipient of the NIH Director’s New Innovator Award, and has received funding from the Mary Kay Foundation, US Department of Defense, and the National Institutes of Health. Dr. Wu currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Endocrine Society.
