Session Description: Review of currently available tests to evaluate adrenal insufficiency and optimal selection of tests for certain clinical scenarios.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Recognize the value of basal morning measurements of ACTH, cortisol, and DHEAS as a segue to evaluating the integrity of HPA axis function.
  2. Update the new, specific cortisol assays and how they impact interpretation of dynamic ACTH stimulation testing.
  3. Review the limitations of the diagnostic testing for adrenal insufficiency and the potential use of free cortisol determination.
