Challenging Cases in Lipids Management

Session Description: This session will describe triglyceride and LDL-C management in several scenarios: patients with diabetes and high triglycerides, patients with high LDL-C despite maximal dose statin therapy, and patients with hypercholesterolemia and elevated Lp(a).

  1. Describe the management of high triglycerides (below 500 mg/dL) in patients with diabetes.
  2. Discuss non-statin medications and their use in patients with hypercholesterolemia taking statins.
  3. Define the cardiovascular risk of patients with elevated Lp(a) and the most appropriate strategies for management.
