Osteoporosis Medication: Timing is Everything

Session Description: This session will review pharmacologic options for osteoporosis with an emphasis on the sequence of using different medications. Recent data will be reviewed on the timing of anabolic vs antiresorptive therapies.

  1. Identify patients at very high risk for fracture and determine which medications should be used for initial therapy.
  2. Explain the sequence of osteoporosis medication treatment to optimize increases in bone density and fracture outcomes.
  3. Select medications based on individual patient backgrounds and medical history.
