Early-Bird Registration Rates End on August 5
By Gladys Mendez, MSW, Manager, Event Education Design
Our clinical members are an accomplished group of individuals, hailing from prestigious colleges, universities, and medical schools from around the world. They’ve spent years studying and preparing for a career in endocrine medicine, a field that touches so many aspects of health and well-being.
They’ve achieved many milestones on their career journeys.
The Society wants to help rising endocrinologists succeed at one final, crucial juncture: passing the all-important American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) board certification in endocrinology, diabetes & metabolism.
The ABIM exam is the gateway to a fulfilling career. This exam also is notoriously difficult, as it should be.
That’s why we’re here to help. Our Endocrine Board Review (EBR) program has been giving endocrinologists the knowledge and confidence needed to achieve passing scores on the Endocrinology, Diabetes, & Metabolism Certification Exam for the past 10 years.
EBR 2024 takes place online September 6-8. Early bird registration rates expire August 5 at 11:59 PM ET.
Our program leaves nothing to chance. Attendees receive study materials, practice exams, and access to leading experts who can answer every detailed question that may come up on the exam. As with each year, EBR 2024 examines content from previous years that will likely appear on the current ABIM exam.
EBR strictly follows ABIM’s exam blueprint. It features content specifications for each exam certification, as well as their approximate percentages of the overall total. Percentages for the endocrinology, diabetes & metabolism exam are:
To achieve a passing mark, participants must demonstrate knowledge of diagnostic reasoning and clinical judgment skills that are expected of a certified endocrinologist, according to ABIM. Participants also must recognize both common and rare clinical problems that bring patients to certified endocrinologists.
EBR 2024 helps prepare applicants with a series of sessions led by experts in each topical area. Participants also are guided through the intensive program using the Endocrine Board Review 16th Edition (2024) with just over 220 clinical case questions based on previous year’s exam content.
A series of interactive online practice tests will open August 6 for those who register.
The program is so effective, the Society guarantees a passing score, or participants receive free registration for EBR 2025.
Of course, passing the certification exam is just the beginning. Medicine is a field of continuing education.
We have a special program for clinicians who want to stay on the cutting edge of the field. Clinical Endocrinology Update (CEU) 2024, which will be held virtually September 19-21, provides the latest knowledge for clinicians to treat endocrine conditions using the latest clinical guidelines and breakthroughs therapies.
Led by renowned endocrinologists, the first day covers topics such as diabetes prevention, growth hormone replacement updates, and vertebral fragility fracture management. Day two delves into safe exercise strategies for diabetes patients, hyperthyroidism, and the role of genetics in obesity. Day three discusses osteoporosis management, nutrition integration into healthcare, and treatments for erectile dysfunction.
CEU 2024’s six hours of content across 37 sessions is certified for 27 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ and 6.75 ABIM MOC Points. Recordings will be available online within 72 hours after the meeting.
We are passionate about helping endocrinologists achieve success, both for their own good and for the good of our profession.
As you may be aware, our field is facing a shortfall of new entrants. EBR is part of a larger Society effort to ensure a healthy pipeline of endocrinologists entering the field.
The other major initiative is our Medical School Engagement Program (MSEP). The need to foster the field is self-evident. According to the AMA, roughly 83 million people in the U.S. live without reasonable access to a primary care physician. Half of all practicing physicians in the U.S. today are over age 55, and it is estimated that 42% of endocrinologists practicing are over age 50.
Through programs like EBR, CEU, along with early-career training opportunities, the Society is here to ensure the success of our individual members, and our field as a whole.
