Through partnerships with Sanofi Argentina, Sanofi Chile, Sanofi Colombia, Sanofi Pacific and Caribbean, Sanofi Peru and Sanofi Uruguay, the Endocrine Society hosted its first Latin American (LATAM) Leadership Academy. Sixty-two clinicians from over 15 countries across South America, Central America and the Caribbean took part in a one-day leadership training program and attended ENDO 2019, the annual meeting of the Endocrine Society, in New Orleans, La.
Participants were able to network and learn directly from faculty composed of top endocrine leaders from Argentina, Brazil, Ecuador, Peru, the United Kingdom and the United States. During the program, participants learned about their own leadership style, effective communication and how to balance clinical and research priorities.
“Our first Latin American Leadership Academy was a major success, and I’m excited to see what this group of rising stars in the field will do for the future of endocrinology. We hope to make this the first of many LATAM Leadership Academy events and to continue furthering our development of global leaders,” said Endocrine Society President-Elect Gary D. Hammer, M.D., Ph.D., of the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Hammer chaired the faculty that developed the training program.
After the one-day leadership training program, participants attended ENDO 2019 and during the final day of the congress they had the opportunity to visit the University Medical Center New Orleans for a guided-tour and brief presentation from local Endocrine Society members. This was a very special opportunity to get a look into the way endocrine research and practice is conducted by American colleagues.
The launch of this regional-focused program marks an unprecedented partnership between the Society and Sanofi offices across the Latin American region.
