Our Award for Excellence in Science and Medical Journalism is open to all credentialed journalists in print (both “hard copy” and electronic) or broadcast. Candidates can self-nominate or be nominated by someone else. Only one nomination is permitted for each nominee. Media outlets are limited to three entries total.
The honor consists of an award plaque to be presented at our annual meeting in March 2020. The award recipient also will receive travel and hotel accommodations (not to exceed five nights) to attend the annual meeting. In the case of multiple authors, only one person will receive travel and hotel accommodations.
The award recipient is selected by our Advocacy and Public Outreach Core Committee (APOCC). The committee will give weight to entries that demonstrate thorough research, accurate reporting, originality and contribute to the public understanding of endocrinology.
Entries for the 2020 award must be:
A nominee must be the author of the submitted article. In the case of collaborative efforts, those involved must determine who is or are the nominee(s). The author must be an employee of a print or electronic publication; a broadcast or cable station or network; or be a freelance journalist.
A nominee may submit only one entry. A series may be judged as one entry if each segment was identified at the time of publication as being part of the series.
Nominations may be made by anyone. To self-nominate, please complete the online form.
People nominating work produced by others must submit one copy of a print or electronic article with sufficient information to identify its source and author(s). We will contact the author(s) and request the materials listed above, if he/she/they wish the nomination to go forward.
Nominations must be received by the Endocrine Society by Friday, December 6, 2019. The winner will be notified in early 2020.
