What was your first Endocrine Society volunteer role? How do you volunteer now?

My first volunteer role was membership on the steering committee for the entrepreneurship SIG. I am currently a member on this SIG.

Why did you choose to volunteer with Endocrine Society?

Someone had anonymously recommended me to join the entrepreneurship SIG, and I graciously accepted. I had no idea what I was getting myself into, but it sounded like a great opportunity.

How has volunteer service at Endocrine Society benefited you personally or professionally? Would you recommend volunteering to a colleague?

Volunteering has helped me professionally by helping to build my network among like-minded individuals with similar interests, and I have learned a significant amount from both the guest speakers that our SIG has hosted and the other steering group members. Because we are all volunteers, there’s a feel of authenticity and fellowship that I don’t always get elsewhere. I feel fortunate to be a part of the Endocrine Society, where we can bring a breadth of the most seasoned experts in the field to give presentations on the related topics around entrepreneurship. I would definitely recommend volunteering at the Endocrine Society to a colleague, and I hope to continue volunteering to further enrich myself.
