Jacqueline Jonklaas, MD, PhD, MPH, is currently a professor in the endocrinology division at Georgetown University. Dr. Jonklaas completed her medical degree, residency, and fellowship training at Georgetown University. Her time is equally divided between research, clinical activities, and teaching. Her area of particular interest is the management of thyroid cancer and hypothyroidism.
Dr. Jonklaas has published research regarding treatment and outcomes in patients with thyroid cancer. She has also studied therapy for hypothyroidism and was the lead author on the American Thyroid Association’s 2014 guidelines for the treatment of hypothyroidism. She is involved in translational research and the activities of the Georgetown University’s Clinical and Translational Science Award. She is the director of the Georgetown Clinical Research Unit. Dr. Jonklaas is involved in teaching at both a national and local level. She teaches endocrinology to residents and fellows in both the inpatient and outpatient setting. She teaches endocrinology to medical students.
She has been a member of the American Thyroid Association since 1999, serves on the editorial board of the journal Thyroid, serves on the Board of Directors of the American Thyroid Association, and is the current Secretary/COO. She was co-chair of the American Thyroid Association Task Force on Thyroid Hormone Replacement and co-chair of the American Thyroid Association Guidelines and Statements Committee. She has been a member of the Endocrine Society since 1997 and serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism and as a member of the Endocrine Board Review Faculty.
