Varsha Vimalananda, MD, MPH, is an endocrinologist and health services researcher at the Bedford VA Medical Center and the Boston University School of Medicine. Dr. Vimalananda’s research centers around measuring and improving coordination of specialty care between patients, primary care providers, and specialists. Her work has included research and quality improvement focused on electronic consultations (e-consults). Dr. Vimalananda has published several papers on e-consults, including an editorial in the Annals of Internal Medicine and two systematic reviews. Her studies led to the development of a VA committee to optimize and spread use of e-consults across the VA system in New England.

Dr. Vimalananda received her undergraduate degree at the University of Chicago and her Master’s in Public Health from the University of California, Berkeley. She completed her residency training at the Cambridge Health Alliance and Harvard Medical School, and her endocrinology fellowship at the Boston University School of Medicine.
