Janet A. Schlechte, MD

Dr. Schlechte is Professor of Medicine at the University of Iowa in Iowa City. She received her M.D. from the University of Nebraska and completed training in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology at the University of Iowa before joining the faculty there. Her clinical and research interests are in the biology of prolactin secreting pituitary tumors.

She was elected to the Association of American Physicians and is a Master in the American College of Physicians. She served as an Associate Editor of the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism and was a member of the American Board of Internal Medicine Endocrinology, Metabolism and Diabetes Board for 10 years.

Her major contributions to the Endocrine Society have been in the educational arena. She was clinical chair for three Annual Meetings and co-chaired the 2005 ENDO Task Force. While Chair of the Scientific and Educational Programs Committee she directed a task force structured to redesign CEU and currently serves as Chair of the CEU steering committee.

She is the recipient of the Distinguished Service and Distinguished Educator Awards from the Endocrine Society.
