Obesity is a complex disease that is associated with a number of comorbidities, increased mortality, and reduced quality of life. Abdominal obesity is one of the components of metabolic syndrome (MetS), a cluster of risk factors that increases an individual’s risk for chronic conditions such as cardiovascular disease and diabetes.
