Focus on Obesity

Global obesity is on the rise, and endocrinologists are at the forefront of diagnosing its underlying causes and prescribing treatment plans. Obesity is a complex disease that is associated with various comorbidities, increased mortality, and reduced quality of life. Abdominal obesity is one of the components of metabolic syndrome (MetS), a cluster of risk factors that increases an individual’s risk for chronic conditions such as cardiovascular disease and diabetes.
