Future Leaders Advancing Research in Endocrinology
August 29, 2025
The FLARE Program prepares promising graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, clinical fellows, and junior faculty to establish independent research careers through leadership skills training. It provides structured leadership development for early career researchers with a focus on building skills, connections, and long-term career success.
Basic science researchers, clinical research trainees, and junior faculty who have demonstrated achievement in endocrine research are all invited to apply to FLARE.
The 2025 FLARE application period is closed. We invite you to fill out our FLARE Interest Form if you're interested in participating in the program. We will reach out when the next application period opens.
The FLARE Program Components
FLARE is a year-long leadership development experience with four components. The program includes:
Leadership Workshop
The FLARE Workshop is the foundation of the program. This two-day workshop is focused on the “business of research.” It offers leadership training tailored to the challenges early career researchers face, and helps trainees and junior faculty develop the skills to market themselves for employment, transition into full-time research positions, and build long-term, successful careers.
Workshop Highlights
Create Your Own Individual Development Plan (IDP)
Craft A Strong Grant Proposal
Build Your Lab and Research Team
Networking and Collaborations
Travel Award
FLARE awardees receive a travel stipend and complimentary registration to attend ENDO, the Endocrine Society’s Annual Meeting and Expo. This ensures participants can continue their professional development, present their work, and expand their professional networks.
Committee Internship
FLARE participants have the opportunity to apply for a one-year internship appointment on an Endocrine Society governance committee. Interns gain firsthand leadership experience and help shape the Society’s programs.
Mentoring Network
The FLARE community includes alumni, faculty leaders, and peers who are committed to supporting each other’s growth. Through this network, participants gain access to experienced researchers and clinicians who provide career guidance, feedback on research advice, and connections that continue long after the workshop ends.
