Mara E. Lieberman Memorial Travel Grants

Purpose: The Endocrine Society provides travel grants to attend ENDO, the Society's Annual Meeting. These travel grants are awarded to outstanding abstracts submitted by women in honor of Mara E. Lieberman. Recipients in 2025 will present their research at ENDO 2026, the Society's Annual Meeting, taking place June 13-16, in Chicago, Illinois

Benefits: The recipients will receive a $500 travel grant for ENDO 2026 and complimentary meeting registration.

Award Cycle Dates

  • Submission Dates: November 13, 2025 - February 2, 2026
  • Notification: March 18, 2026
  • Award Program Dates: (ENDO 2026): June 13–16, 2026 in Chicago Illinois

Members are eligible to receive one travel award or travel reimbursement per meeting. If you are selected for more than one travel award, you will receive the higher monetary value. Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Must be the first and presenting author on the abstract
  • Must be a graduate student, in-training post-doctoral fellow (1st–4th year of fellowship), or new faculty (1st–2nd year of appointment)
  • Must be a woman

  • Verification of training status (e.g. degree or certificate)
  • Personal statement to include:
    • Descriptions of key achievements and experiences in the field of endocrinology
    • Details of how receiving the award will benefit the applicant professionally.

Do I need to be nominated to apply?

No. All applicants self-nominate.

Is a letter of recommendation required?

Yes. Please request a letter of recommendation from a research mentor through the awards platform.

Can I apply if I’ve received the award before?

No. Only first time Mara E. Lieberman Award winners are eligible. Please explore other early career award opportunities.

Can the award be sent to my institution instead of me?

Yes. Awardees can opt to have funds sent to their institution.

Can I receive feedback if I’m not selected?

Unfortunately, reviewer feedback is not shared. The award is competitive, and we encourage reapplication in future years.

Are late applications accepted?

Only in rare cases for applications already in progress. Please contact the Endocrine Society at [email protected] with details. 

What if I can no longer attend ENDO?

Award funds are only granted to those who attend the ENDO Annual Meeting. You will retain the honor of the award but will not receive the travel grant.

How will I receive my award?

  • Direct Deposit (U.S. Based Applicants)
  • Wire transfer (International Applicants)

When will I receive payment?

Within 6 weeks after ENDO 2026

How can I use the award funds?

While usage is not monitored, funds are expected to support travel to the ENDO Annual Meeting.

(International Applicants) Can I transfer the award to someone outside of my home country to avoid taxes?

No. Awardees are responsible for any applicable taxes in their home country.

Will I be recognized at ENDO?

Yes, the Mara E. Lieberman winner will be honored at the Excellence in Endocrinology Awards Dinner
