Virtual news conference to unveil Obesity Scientific Statement and Center on Obesity

Statement will launch with Endocrine Society’s initiative to advance obesity research and treatment

Endocrine Society experts will discuss its brand-new Scientific Statement on research in the new era of obesity medicines and how this publication is part of a broader Center on Obesity initiative during a virtual news conference on September 9.

What: The virtual news conference will cover the Society’s:

  • Scientific Statement on obesity, which serves as a research roadmap to improve our understanding of the disease and improve health outcomes for people living with obesity. Reporters will have access to the embargoed statement and the opportunity to hear from the leader of the writing group ahead of publication.
  • Center on Obesity, an initiative dedicated to advancing obesity research and care.

Who:

  • Daniel J. Drucker, M.D., of Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto, Ontario, Canada: A pioneer in the development of GLP-1 therapies and leader of the Scientific Statement writing group.
  • Amy E. Rothberg, M.D., of the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Mich.: Chair of the Society’s Obesity Strategy Initiative Member Task Force and leader who helped shape the Center on Obesity.
