An Apology To Dr. Mary Claire Haver

April 07, 2026

The Endocrine Society is committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment for all attendees, speakers, exhibitors, vendors, and staff that fosters open dialogue and a free exchange of ideas, and that is free from any form of harassment or discrimination. All participants at ENDO are expected to treat others with respect and consideration, and all speakers are expected to uphold the strictest standards of scientific integrity as well as medical and professional ethics.

It was brought to the attention of The Endocrine Society that there were remarks made by a plenary speaker at ENDO 2025 that were unprofessional, not in line with the Endocrine Society’s standards for speakers, and crossed the line from fair debate into disparagement. While the Society never pre-screened, pre-approved, reposted, or republished the speaker’s remarks, and while the speaker was speaking in her individual capacity and not in any way as an agent or representative of the Society (which also was made clear on the screen at the commencement of her session), the session has been removed from the Society’s online record and the agreement that the Society has with speakers has been since clarified to ensure that all future speakers understand that this type of behavior is not acceptable and will not be tolerated by the Society. The Endocrine Society offers its sincere apologies to Dr. Mary Claire Haver for her very unfortunate and unacceptable experience at ENDO.
