Practical Advice for Foreign Medical Graduates or Scientists Planning to Come or Stay in the USA: Navigating the US Visa System

This is a practical session with questions and answers aimed to help two groups: 1) Scientists starting or continuing their research work in the U.S.; and 2) International Medical Graduates who have already completed a US medical residency program, are currently participating in endocrine fellowships and are currently planning to stay in the US. The session will include everyday topics as culture, work-life balance, networking, future career opportunities and select fields of official administration (immigration, health insurance, taxation).
Traveling Overseas to do a Research Fellowship: Advice from PIs and Recent Postdocs

This is a panel discussion which will outline how to find and approach PIs in another country, given by experienced PIs who have had hosted foreign graduates, as well as recent postdoctoral fellows who have moved countries to join labs. There will be a question and answer session with advice from experienced PIs as well as recent postdocs, discussing their experience in laboratories in USA, Europe and Japan. The session will also cover practical tips on how to get a research fellowship, how to choose a good mentor, and strategies to secure a successful research career.
