Coe, et. al. v. Todd Blanche & NYU Langone Hospitals; NYU Grossman School of Medicine

August 05, 2026

The Endocrine Society joined with 17 leading medical and mental health organizations in a brief supporting an injunction of the Department of Justice’s demand of adolescent patient records. The amici seek to ensure that all adolescents, including those with gender dysphoria, receive the optimal medical and mental health care they need and deserve. The brief describes the Department of Justice’s demands for sensitive patient records threaten to interfere with patient-physician relationships, impair health outcomes, and deter patient access to necessary and evidence-based medical care. The brief explains that patient confidentiality and off-label prescribing are of fundamental importance not only for the treatment of gender dysphoria but also for the medical care of adolescents more generally.
