Brief Of Amici Curiae American Medical Association, American College Of Physicians, And Nine Other Health Care Organizations In Support Of Plaintiffs-Appellees
"Transgender individuals have a gender identity that is incongruent with the sex they were assigned at birth. The health care community’s understanding of what it means to be transgender has advanced greatly over the past century. According to recent estimates, approximately 1.4 million transgender adults live in the United States—0.6 percent of the adult population."
